Columbia University and the Flatiron Institute of the Simons Foundation will host a three day event to mark the official opening of the Max Planck-New York Center for Nonequilibrium Quantum Phenomena. The event will begin at 3pm on Monday, November 18, in the Rotunda of Low Library at Columbia University with the Signing Ceremony, featuring a special physics colloquium by Dr. Immanuel Bloch of the Max Planck Center for Quantum Optics, followed by the official signing and remarks by the leadership of Columbia, the Flatiron Institute, and the Max Planck Society, and a reception. The event will continue with a Symposium on Nonequilibrium Quantum Phenomena held on November 19 in the Ingrid Daubechies Auditorium of the Flatiron Institute, featuring talks by 10 distinguished scientists, and will continue on November 20 with a Workshop, in Flatiron Institute lecture rooms, featuring talks by Center faculty, postdocs and students on research initiatives and plans. The events are open to the public but because space in some of the venues is limited, persons interested in participating are required to register.
Please note that we are reaching capacity for the Tuesday and Wednesday symposium and workshop. Attendance is not guaranteed until confirmed for those days. Everyone is still welcome to attend the Monday signing ceremony.
