Title: Moire quantum simulation beyond graphene

Abstract: Pioneering experiments in twisted bilayer graphene paved the
way towards leveraging quantum interference in Moire superlattices as
a broader paradigm, to quench kinetic energy scales and selectively
enhance the role of competing interactions. In this talk, I will
discuss three aspects of Moire heterostructure engineering in the
transition-metal dichalcogenides: simulating paradigmatic
multi-orbital Hamiltonians with twist-tunable anisotropy, realizing
topological and correlated phases of matter in the ultra-strong spin
orbit coupling regime in twisted ZrS2, and extending Moire
heterostructure engineering to three dimensions. The presented results
suggest that twist control of generalized superlattice potentials can
grant useful access to unconventional states of matter not readily
realized in ordinary crystals.
