We look forward to welcoming you to the 160 Speaker Series talk, Neuroscience & Society: Envisioning Brain Science for a Better Future, with Caroline Montojo on Monday, October 17 at 4:00 p.m. in the Gerald D. Fischbach Auditorium at 160 Fifth Avenue.

Over the past 50 years, neuroscience has shifted from an emerging field of inquiry into a major funding priority for large-scale national programs like the U.S. National Institutes of Health’s BRAIN Initiative. At the heart of these investments is both a desire to understand the brain—and, fundamentally, ourselves—and to turn the tide on the devastating impact of the hundreds of brain-based conditions that afflict humankind. Neuroscience, however, cannot be separated from the broader societies in which it is conducted. In this talk, Caroline Montojo will share about her work with large-scale international brain initiatives to address ethical and societal issues related to frontier neuroscience, and the Dana Foundation’s new mission in neuroscience and society.
