DESCRIPTION:\n \nBlueprint Workshop: Towards a National-scale AI Collabor
ation in HEP\n \n\nA recent community whitepaper\, “Building an AI-nati
ve Research Ecosystem for Experimental Particle Physics: A Community Visio
n”\, outlines how AI could accelerate discovery in the field and identif
ies four Grand Challenges that must be addressed to enable transformative
progress. This blueprint workshop is intended to bring together the U.S. p
article and nuclear physics community to discuss how a coordinated\, natio
nal-scale collaboration might realize that vision.\nA central focus of the
workshop will be discussions on how such a national-scale collaboration c
ould be effectively bootstrapped and organized\, as well as identifying pr
iorities over the near and medium term.\nSuch a collaboration\, including
both universities and DOE laboratories\, has a number of potential benefit
s and opportunities\, including:\n\n\na forum for developing a shared road
map toward an AI-native research ecosystem\n\n\na platform for enabling la
rger-scale efforts while integrating expertise and resources from across t
he community\n\n\nclear pathways to scale and transition promising R&D act
ivities towards deployment within experiments\n\n\na structure to develop
and provide the services needed for the experiments to fully leverage evol
ving national infrastructure (e.g.\, AmSC\, NAIRR) and large-scale data re
sources\n\n\nfostering both collaboration and healthy competition through
the development of shared benchmarks and the development and curation of t
he supporting datasets\n\n\naccessible entry points for individual univers
ity groups to engage and contribute\n\n\na coherent framework for cross-ex
periment activities\, enabling solutions with impact to deliver benefit to
multiple experiments\n\n\na clear structure for US engagement with intern
ational efforts\, including those at CERN\, and other national and regiona
l collaborations\n\n\na community structure for engagement with industry\n
\n\na structure for large scale workforce development activities leveragin
g both lab and university expertise\n\n\nThis first workshop will consider
the potential impact of these opportunities\, identifying near-term prior
ities and exploring means to enable additional initiatives as resources be
come available. We expect that this discussion will continue in subsequent
community workhops during 2026.\n \n\n\n\n\n\nThis workshop is being org
anized by the Coordinating Panel for Software and Computing (CPSC) which i
s hosted by the Division of Particles and Fields (DPF) of the American Phy
 sical Society (APS).\n\n\n\n\n \n\nhttps://indico.flatironinstitute.org/e
