We are scheduling a downtime beginning at 5 PM, 6 Nov.

This downtime will impact all of our Linux systems:

- The ceph file system, rusty login nodes, jupyterhub, and all compute nodes (including BNL) will be unavailable throughout the weekend.

- Linux workstations, x2go01, and file sharing servers will be updated and rebooted Friday evening. They should be available again on 7 Nov, but they will only have access to the home file system at that time.

- The gateway nodes will be available throughout, but will only have access to the home file system during the downtime.  All processes (e.g., rsync, sftp, sshfs) accessing the ceph file system will be killed Friday evening.

- The planned work includes a significant upgrade of SLURM. Any job that is running or pending when the downtime starts will be lost.

We plan to have everything back in service by 8 AM, 9 Nov.

popeye, at SDSC, will be unaffected by this downtime.
