Once every three weeks, all Flatiron researchers are invited to discuss problems on a first-come, first-serve basis. We can then make adjustments based on the program's reception. We will limit the office hours to two volunteers from CCM per session, so that non-scientific-computing-experts are comfortable presenting their problem in an informal setting. For now, we have emphasized "scientific computing" in the title, simply because this is the area we know, and we think the focus of individual sessions should be sufficiently narrow that the two volunteers are likely to have some relevant experience. However, we are very open to rotating in sessions focusing on machine learning/statistics/data science/optimization, or combinations of these topics, if the relevant experts let us know that there is a demand, and that this is the right format for distributing help in those topics. Come talk to us if you are interested in discussing this.
