Date: Thursday, December 2, 2021 Time: 10 am - 11:30 am Speakers: Simons Foundation Communications Team
Description: Sharing your scientific research with peers and with the public can be an enjoyable and effective way to improve your professional prospects and help increase scientific literacy in society. In this workshop, members of the Simons Foundation’s communications team willprovide essential guidance, resources and hands-on activities for scientists looking to strengthen their communications arsenal. They will provide guidance around press releases, show how to amplify your research using social media, best practices for communicating with the lay public, and more. Communications will also review company rules and parameters for external communications, including: expectations around your personal social media accounts, what to do if approached by the press or a private company for comment, and issues around logos and branding. Attendees will come away with a deeper understanding of how best to communicate their research, and how that effort can dovetail with communications' offerings.
Location: The seminar will be a hybrid event--attendees can either join in-person in the Flatiron Institute IDA or via Zoom (please see email invitation for link)
