Title: Fast and adaptive methods for the simulation of physical processes in complex geometries

Abstract: I will review recent progress in automatically adaptive methods for simulating diffusion, fluid flow, and wave propagation in complicated geometries. This will be a survey talk, (mostly) accessible to computational scientists across Flatiron.
