Curated Dataset

Jeremy Magland has gathered curated Neuropixels datasets that exhibit electrode drift and has made them available through a software interface hosted on GitHub. This information was distributed to guests on August 14 and updated September 2nd so they can run analyses to present at the workshop.

About the dataset: To facilitate discussion during the workshop, we have gathered carefully curated datasets from three sources: The Allen Institute (Josh Siegle), Cortex Lab (Nick Steinmetz), and Janelia Research Campus (Susu Chen), and made them available on GitHub. We have a total of 6 recordings for which both raw data and carefully curated spike sorting results are available. Since our last communication, we have added additional datasets, including hybrid datasets with pseudo-ground truth and recordings from other brain regions.

Instructions for algorithm builders: Please familiarize yourself with the data and online interface. There are instructions for you to download and run your own analysis on the data to present to the group during the workshop. In particular, we request that you compare your results with the curated results we provide using whatever pipeline you deem appropriate, which could be fully automated or involve some level of curation. If you are interested in uploading your results to a repository that will be shared with workshop attendees, please contact Jeremy Magland.

Instructions for end users: Please familiarize yourself with the data and online interface, which allows you to view raw data traces, correlograms, and other basic information about the sorted units. We encourage you to run any standard lab analysis pipelines you may have on the data to get a sense of opportunities or challenges that may arise to enhance our discussion during the workshop.
