Description

COVID TESTING REQUIREMENT: All external attendees must test for COVID prior to their first day at the event. Preferably you will test in the morning before you arrive to our building(s). Tests will NOT be provided onsite. Entry will NOT be granted unless you can attest that you have tested negative for COVID-19. Please find a link to the attestation form below. Attendees and staff with entry badges to Flatiron Institute/Simons Foundation can bypass this requirement, but are encouraged to test regardless.

COVID Policy: Vaccination status will no longer be validated as a condition of entry. However, all staff and affiliates are strongly encouraged to remain up to date with their vaccination boosters, according to their individual eligibility. Masks should be worn in all meeting spaces with more than 10 people, less than 10 people is by consensus of the group.

Age Restriction: All employees, visitors, event attendees and vendors are required to be above the age of eighteen for entry into our building(s). Photo ID with birthdate will be required by security upon arrival to our building. For nursing mothers, please reach out to an admin to arrange an exception.

About this event...

The Cosmology and Astrophysics with MachinE Learning Simulations (CAMELS) project aims to overcome major obstacles limiting our understanding of the fundamental properties of the Universe by (1) providing theoretical predictions for an arbitrary number of observables as a function of cosmology and astrophysics from the largest suite of state-of-the-art cosmological galaxy formation simulations; and (2) developing novel machine learning algorithms to maximize the extraction of information from cosmological surveys while marginalizing over uncertainties in astrophysical effects.

Following the presentation of numerous results and a major public data release, it is the ideal time for the CAMELS community to get together in person in New York City. The goal of the CAMELS workshop is to discuss ongoing work, coordinate existing and new projects, and make plans for future work and new simulations. We would like to promote new collaborations and the exchange of ideas, tools and knowledge between CAMELS subgroups working on different aspects of galaxy formation, cosmology and machine learning. This workshop will include a mix of talks and ample discussion time, along with breakout sessions for more in-depth collaborations.
